2021 TREND FORECAST
Trends come from more than just Fashion Week these days – we get loads of inspo from influencers on Instagram and Tik Tok! Although some trends
from 2020 stuck around into the beginning of 2021, like leather, loungewear
and neutrals, we’re seeing some new trends breaking through now that the weather is warming and we’re moving out of Lockdown.
We’ve taken a look at the ISAW data, inspo from Fashion Weeks and what’s beginning to trend for the season, and rounded up our predictions for 2021.
Spring Summer 2021
First we're seeing romantic styles beginning to trend, a nod to the girly picnic dressing we saw during the first Lockdown last year. Key details are puff sleeves, corsets and sheer fabrics, with a focus on tops and dresses in midi
and maxi lengths.
Searches for ‘puff sleeve’ increased 40% in March compared to February,
whilst searches for ‘midi dress’ are also on the rise with an 81% increase.
Feel Good Prints
Feel good prints were big on the runways for 2021, which comes as no surprise when we’ve been living through a pandemic - rainbows, smiley faces, cartoon flowers and even some tie dye.
We’re beginning to see searches for mood boosting prints pick up too – searches containing ‘rainbow’ increased by 83% in March compared to February, whilst searches for ‘smiley face’ were up a massive 324%.
Pastels come as no surprise as a Spring trend, but it’s a continuation of “feel good” dressing, like the trending prints. Searches containing ‘pastel’ were up 35% from January to end of March, compared to the same period in 2020. ‘Pastel blue’ was the most searched-for shade in this period, with 10% of all searches.
Meanwhile, views of the Pastels collection page were up 60% from January to March compared to the same period in 2020, whilst views of the Pastel Tops collection page were up a massive 304%.

We’re also noticing a steady rise in interest in Pink, with hot pink emerging as a summery trend on Instagram. Searches for ‘pink’ were up 61% from January to March compared to the 3 months before. The most searched-for products were ‘pink dress’ and ‘pink joggers.’

As we move into Summer we’re expecting being “nearly naked” to trend, to make up for all those months covering up in Lockdown. Open backs, mini skirts and little black dresses, cut out details and ‘midriff flossing’ are key elements of the trend. Bras will be worn over tops and under cardigans, and thongs/ thong details will be on show.
Searches containing ‘cut out’ have increased 60% from January to March compared to the same period in 2020, related to tops and dresses – searches for ‘cut out top’ were up 725% YOY. Searches for ‘bralet’ were up 25% from January to March, compared to the 3 months before.
Lastly, and maybe the biggest trend of the year – oversized silhouettes. This is a trend that has continued into 2021 from last year and we can see lasting the whole year. Loose and baggy trousers/jeans and relaxed, oversized tailoring will be key wardrobe staples throughout 2021.
Searches containing ‘wide leg’ were up 245% from January to March compared to the same period in 2020, whilst searches containing ‘baggy’ were up a massive 655% in the same period. ‘Baggy jeans,’ ‘baggy tops’ and ‘baggy trousers’ were the most searched-for products.
Views of all ‘oversized’ collection pages onsite were up 1,326% from January to March compared to the same period in 2020, with views of the ‘Oversized T-Shirts’ collection page up a massive 1,423% in the same period.

Looking towards Autumn and Winter, we’re anticipating party season to go off with a boom. Sequins are predicted to be a huge trend with the resurgence of the “Roaring 20s” post-Lockdown. Monochrome was also popular in Fashion Weeks, with black and white being styled together a lot. Maybe we’ll see a back-to-basics approach with dressing this winter? All we can say is, we’re excited to see what’s next for fashion in post-Lockdown 2021.
