If you’re not a big read then now’s the chance to start. Reading books opens you up to a whole new world of stories, characters and information that otherwise you would be missing out on. Reading is good for the soul and good for the mind, the ultimate act of self care. If you think you don’t like reading then you’ve probably just never found the book for you.
Here’s a few of our faves from the ISAW fam, from Crime to Romance, there’ll deffo be something on the list for you.

Girl On The Train
The story is a first-person narrative told from the point of view of three women: Rachel, Anna, and Megan. Rachel Watson is a 33-year-old alcoholic, reeling from the end of her marriage to Tom, who left her for another woman, Anna Boyd. Rachel's drinking has caused her to lose her job; she frequently binges and has blackouts. Rachel follows her old routine of taking the train to London everyday; her train slowly passes her old house, where Tom and Anna now live. She also begins watching from the train an attractive couple who live a few houses away from Tom. She idealises their life (this is megan).
The Couple Next Door
The Couple Next Door is about Anne and Marco Conti who are invited to their neighbours for a dinner party, they leave their six-month-old baby daughter at home and just take a baby monitor with them, in between going back every half an hour to check on her. At Midnight Anne leaves the party to return home to find the baby missing and the cot empty.
When 11 year old Evan vanishes without trace, his parents are plunged into their worst nightmare. Especially as the police, under massive pressure, have no answers. But months later Evan is unexpectedly found, frightened and refusing to speak. His loving family realise life will never be the same again

If you’re going to give them a read (or re-read) Twilight is the first book in the Twilight series, and introduces seventeen-year-old Isabella Swan, who moves from Phoenix, Arizona to Forks, Washington. She is endangered after falling in love with Edward Cullen, a vampire

A gripping series of detective books by Peter James. Centred around character Roy Grace; a down-to-earth detective with a strong sense of conviction, and a sense of humor. He was touched by tragedy ten years ago when his wife disappeared. He still hopes to find her and even keeps some of her things in place in case she resurfaced. In his work, Grace investigates missing-person cases. Each book focuses on a different case whilst dropping in small clues about Roy Grace’s past personal life.
To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before

This is true because every life has problems associated with it and finding meaning in your life will help you sustain the effort needed to overcome the particular problems you face. A Stolen Life is the autobiographical memoir of Jaycee Dugard. Dugard was kidnapped in June of 1991 near her home by Phillip and Nancy Garrido. For eighteen years, she was a captive of the couple and forced to endure repeated sexual abuse and false imprisonment.
Becoming is the memoir of former United States first lady Michelle Obama published in 2018. Described by the author as a deeply personal experience, the book talks about her roots and how she found her voice, as well as her time in the White House, her public health campaign, and her role as a mother.
Eat Pray Love
Eat, Pray, Love: One Woman's Search for Everything Across Italy, India and Indonesia is a 2006 memoir by American author Elizabeth Gilbert. The memoir chronicles the author's trip around the world after her divorce and what she discovered during her travels. This autobiography was also turned into a movie starring Julie Andrews!

All The Bright Places
All the Bright Places is a compelling and beautiful story about a girl who learns to live from a boy who intends to die. Theodore Finch is fascinated by death, and he constantly thinks of ways he might kill himself. But each time, something good, no matter how small, stops him. This has recently been turned into a Netflix film, however I would recommend reading the book before the film.
The Spectacular Now
Sutter, a popular party animal unexpectedly meets the introverted Aimee after waking up on a stranger's lawn. As Sutter deals with the problems in his life including the development of alcoholism and Aimee plans for her future beyond school, an unexpected romance blossoms between them. All i can say is READ THIS BOOK. The film is awful in comparison and they even change the ending???
Quentin Jacobsen has spent a lifetime loving the magnificently adventurous Margo Roth Spiegelman from afar. So when she cracks open a window and climbs back into his life–dressed like a ninja and summoning him for an ingenious campaign of revenge–he follows. John Green was THE author of my teen years, from The Fault In Our Stars to Looking for Alaska- it will forever amaze me how he has such a great insight to my mind.
Normal People is a story set in Ireland about the relationship over time between two people, complicated by their social and socio-economic divisions. Marianne and Connell meet as teenagers in high school. Marianne is bookish, unpopular and wealthy. Meanwhile Connell is a well-liked football player, but his family is of the “wrong” sort. They’re friends because Connell’s mom works as a cleaner for Marianne’s house. When Marianne admits her feelings for Connell, they begin hooking up secretly. The novel then follows Marianne and Connell’s “will-they-or-won’t-they?” relationship across the next five years.
Lord Of The Flies
William Golding's 1954 novel Lord of the Flies tells the story of a group of young boys who find themselves alone on a deserted island. They develop rules and a system of organization, but without any adults to serve as a 'civilizing' impulse, the children eventually become violent and brutal.
Animal Farm is a novel about a group of animals who take control of the farm they live on. However, trouble starts as the pigs, Napoleon and Snowball, fight for the hearts and minds of the other animals on the farm. Napoleon seizes power by force and ends up exploiting the animals just as Farmer Jones had done. “All animals are equal, but some are more equal than others” the similarity between politics and this animal novella is uncanny.
The Great Gatsby
The Great Gatsby is a story told by Nick Carraway, who was once Gatsby's neighbor, and he tells the story sometime after 1922, when the incidents that fill the book take place. As the story opens, Nick has just moved from the Midwest to West Egg, Long Island, seeking his fortune as a bond salesman. The story is filled with affairs, drama, love and murder.
