Christmas Day Outfit Ideas
Christmas Day is only a few days away and you’ve got to prepare yourself for all the festivities - that includes finding a killer outfit and looking the best at your family party. Prosecco, presents and being surrounded by people you love, there’s nothing better! With so many photo ops, you need the best outfit in all the pictures to look back on and think - ‘YEP killed it!’ So to help with that, this blog is all about finding your perfect Christmas Day outfit.
This one is definitely for the girls who are absolutely obsessed with Christmas and start listening to Christmas songs as soon as Halloween is over. There’s no better way to carry on the Christmas spirit than by wearing your most festive jumper on the big day. Be cosy and look the part, paired with some leather look trousers, jewellery and a little bag (depending on whether you’re going out or staying in). If you’re leaving the house, I recommend boots. But if you’re staying in, find the comfiest fluffiest socks to keep your feet warm - preferably matching your jumper for ultimate coordination!
SIMPLE AND SLEEK
If you’re more festive on the inside, wearing a normal jumper and skinny jeans is always a sure bet. You’ll be warm but still look seriously fashionable. Complete this outfit with some studded biker boots for some edge and a collection of bling on your hands. Now you’re fully equipped for endless glasses of prosecco and sitting around bloated for the afternoon after a huge Christmas lunch. You can even untie your jeans without anyone knowing (so don’t feel any shame when you half two helpings of dessert and you can’t take it any longer!)
DRESS TO IMPRESS
When you want to dress up but you’re not leaving the house, a pinafore dress is the perfect solution. It’s dressy without being overdressy, and you can pretty much put whatever you want on underneath. I’d opt for a white blouse (if you’re careful and know you’re not going to spill anything!) with some lush detailing on the sleeves. If not, a black turtleneck will do the same job! It’s a seriously sophisticated outfit and is giving me Blair Waldorf vibes - headband included! For jewellery, simple is best. Get on some thick tights to keep your legs warm and get some selfies in front of your Christmas tree!
JEANS AND A NICE CROP
Jeans and a crop top is definitely my go-to. It’s so easy and you can literally pick any crop top to go with any jeans and it’ll work, you can’t go wrong! Mom jeans and this crop top are a dream combo. The top’s shoulder detail and pattern makes the whole outfit more interesting, without being too over the top. Go with the heeled boots for added length to your legs and a cute 90s shoulder bag to carry your makeup essentials. If you’re heading out on Christmas Day, throw a long teddy coat on over the top and take off ASAP so you’re giving your outfit the attention it deserves.
Jumper dresses are bang on trend as soon as December hits and the biker look always pulls through if you’re super edgy. To maintain the edginess, tie a studded belt around the dress to show off your amazing waist. Get a longer leather coat to go over the top, and tie a Christmas colour in there somewhere with a dark green accessory. Keep your hair in a slick ponytail and get your makeup on fleek for the day’s events.
PEEP THE PATTERN
A little snakeskin never hurt anyone, especially on Christmas Day! Keep it light and breezy with these wide leg trousers, especially if you’re not a fan of skinnier leg trousers. To keep the focus on them, simply pair with a white t-shirt bodysuit. A cropped leather jacket would work perfectly with this to bring out the black in the trousers and it’s a timeless classic! A fluffy bum bag will complete the look and would be bang on trend for the end of 2019. The perfect outfit to lounge about in and relax while you let your food settle.
COOL GIRL CHRISTMAS
Specifically for the cool girl. All black, oversized hoodie, big hoops and long boots - yes please. Just because it’s Christmas doesn’t mean you have to wear colour, right? For those of us that wear black no matter how happy the occasion - this outfit’s a winner. It’s casual fashion at its absolute peak, and we love it! The croc leggings add some texture and thigh high boots will give your legs extraaaaaa length. The hoops are super sassy, even get a silver necklace on too if you want to go for the full effect. Impress everyone at the Christmas party with this ultra cool laid back look created especially for you.
If you’re doing absolutely nothing on Christmas Day and you’re just chilling out, drinking hot chocolate and watching Christmas films - you’re in need of some serious loungewear. A matching loungewear set is the easiest thing to pull together because you only need 2 things - tops and bottoms. Here are my favourites from the site. Even if you have to leave the house, these are all completely acceptable. Just stick on some white trainers and you’re good to go for anything. Guaranteed comfort with all the fashion. The leopard print stripe is perfect for if you’re a little bit feisty, and the rest are good for everyone - just pick your fave colour!
So no matter where you are or what you’re doing this Christmas, whether it’s going out to a big family party or staying home curled on the sofa with a glass of prosecco watching Christmas films, you’re going to look flawless! From all of us here at I Saw It First, Merry Christmas! 🎄
