Because, the British weather is the reason we have trust issues.
Obviously it’s not ideal that summer just hasn’t landed in the UK this year (especially with all that money we *didn’t* save during lockdown) but it doesn’t mean we have to miss out on those dainty pastel dresses and ditsy floral prints. It’s all in the styling, and we’re here to show you a few of our fave hot weather pieces and how to style them when the weather is… not.
The mini dress.
This dress is an outfit on it’s own for those summer days, pair with white mules to have that summer tan popping and adorn your hair with statement hair slides for that boozy beer garden lunch.
On rainy days wear an oversized slogan tee underneath, the shirring detail will still accentuate your figure yet won’t leave you quite so chilly. You may want to take a cute little bag to fit your umbrella in too, just incase.
The midi dress.
Our fave british weather go to will always be the midi dress, is effortlessly chic for those street style insta pics yet can be oh so classy at that summery bottomless brunch.
For those rainy days style with a black oversized leather jacket and chunky white trainers, or for days when the sun does come out to play pair with cute sandals and a pair of statement shades.
The jogger short.
This summer’s staple: the jogger short. Some might even say they're a direct product of bad weather and our desire for summer clothes. We love them because they’re just so versatile. On gloomy days pair with an oversized sweatshirt and a pair of hoops for laidback vibes.
On sunnier days you can get creative, pair with a girly summer top and trainers. Top tip: keep the summer top monochrome or pastel colours to make sure the outfit ties together.
The pastel cardigan.
The gem your wardrobe is going to need this season. It takes our fave summer trends and combines them with the cosiness we need to survive these so called summers.
The pastel colours and girly embroidered daisies make it easy to pair with distressed denim shorts, a straw bag and pretty earrings for a picture perfect look.
Alternatively style with oversized jeans for days when the weather is a little more brisk...
