Top 10 Mental Health Quotes To Live By

At ISAW, looking after our mental health is super important all year round! But with World Mental Health Day around the corner, we’re pulling together our top 10 quotes that we’ve lived by this year. With everything going on and all the uncertainty of this year, looking after our minds has never been more crucial. We’re adapting new ways to cope and deal with how we’re feeling. Keep reading to hear our fave quotes and mantras for this year!

1. "A beautiful day begins with a beautiful mindset"

We love this one because it’s just so simple. It’s up to you what kind of day you have, so why not make it a positive one? Start your morning by thinking of all the positive things you’ve got in your life and how you’re going to make the most of your day. Think about what you’re most looking forward to and really make it count! At the end of the day you can look back and know you’ve done your best and it’s been great!

2. "Not all storms come to disrupt your life, some come to clear the path"

It’s important to know that not everything bad that happens in your life is going to change everything, and that it may make things even better for you in the long term. Going through something bad means you come out stronger than you were before. Trust the process and understand that everything happens for a reason!

3. "When you get tired, learn to rest not to quit"

Everyone has moments when they’re completely exhausted - and that’s fine! Having days off, focusing on yourself and being unproductive are okay to do. It’s about understanding that they can’t last forever and you have to carry on eventually! Have rest days, but don’t quit your journey. The longer you rest, the harder it’ll be to pick yourself back up. So make sure you keep going when you’re feeling better and replenished.

4. "Don't feel guilty for doing what's best for you"

Looking out for yourself and doing you is your number one priority in life. As humans, it’s natural for us to feel guilt when we are doing something that is wholly for our benefit. But the truth is, if we know it’s going to be the best decision for us - do it! Don’t let anyone make you feel guilty for your decisions either! Focus on yourself and how you can make yourself the best version of you.

5. "I am learning to love the sound of my own feet walking away from things not meant for me"

Similarly to number four, looking out for yourself is your main priority. Knowing when things aren’t for you is already a huge step on your journey of personal growth, and learning to love the journey you’re on is the best part. If you know you’re not gaining any positivity from something, don’t be afraid to walk away. It’s not for you and that’s fine.

6. "Worrying is like a rocking chair. It gives you something to do, but it gets you nowhere"

If you’re like me, a classic overthinker who worries about everything, it’s really hard to get yourself out of that mindframe and focus on what’s real. However, coming back down to reality is what you need when your mind is consumed with negative thoughts of what might be. If you think about it, worrying will genuinely get you nowhere and its impacts on your mind and body can be huge. So why put yourself through it? When you’re worried about things, take a deep breath, step back from the situation and think of all the real solutions that come with your problem. Once you know real ways of helping the problem, you’ll be less in your head and more productive on what you can do for yourself.

7. "A little progress each day adds up to big results"

Great things don’t happen overnight. If you do something productive every day, no matter how small, it can add up to big results. Even if you only did a little bit today, don’t worry - you’ve done something and that’s what counts. Trust the process!

8. "Today is your opportunity to build the tomorrow you want"

Some serious motivation here. Whatever you do today is building a future for yourself, no matter what it is. Something as small as learning to cook something, or finding a quicker way to do something - it all adds up to what your future will consist of.

9, "We're not meant to stay the same. Change is good"

I’m sure everyone knows this by now but this is always a good quote to remind yourself of. Over your lifetime you’ll have so many life experiences purely because you’ll have changed as a person. Wanting to stay the same and not experiencing anything new will get you nowhere in life, so get yourself out there and better yourself!

10. "The way you speak to yourself matters"

I want to finish with this one as it’s so crucial. If you tell yourself something enough times, you’ll start to believe it. So make sure everything you say to yourself is positive, helpful and motivational. Fill yourself with positive energy and god vibes!

Now you're feeling truly inspired and motivated, spread your positivity with your family and friends around you. Don't forget to show our Mental Health Awareness board some love and check out the rest of our Pinterest here!
