What to Wear to a Picnic

What to Wear to a Picnic

Just ‘cos pubs and restaurants are opening up again doesn’t mean you should turn your back on a good old-fashioned picnic. Picture it: sitting in a park with some drinks, the people around you all loving life and the sun beaming down. What a vibe!

We’ve got the ‘fit inspo – think romantic, summery vibes and dress for the heat, although def’ come prepared with a jacket, just in case. All you’ve gotta do is bring the snacks and something to sit on. We’re OBSESSED with the aesthetic too. Just think about that ‘gram content, girl!

We don’t mind admitting we’ve been inspired by traditional picnic blankets for this one, but trust us when we say Gingham is gonna be huge for Spring/Summer this year! This print is soo cute and we're loving it in pastel tones, though you can’t go wrong with black or red either. Styles with puff sleeves or ruffle details are our most recommended – some more big trends we’re predicting for this season!

Something else we’re seeing trending RN is Pastels, and they’re perfect for the picnic vibe too! This is a great trend to pair with denim if the weather’s a bit chilly, or you’re more at home in some jeans. Try throwing on a pastel top or layering a shirt over a white basic for a really easy jeans look, or go all out and mix different pastel tones head to toe! Either way, Pastels = a super girly picnic look, every time.

Florals may trend every Spring but they never fail us! Take inspo from the nature you’ll be spending time in on your picnic – the obvious choice is a gorge floral dress, key details being milkmaid shapes, puff sleeves and ruffles. But we’re also loving co-ord sets at the min. Pair with some flats for your picnic and style up another day with heels for a cute brunch look. You can even wear as separates! An investment ‘fit if we do say so ourselves.

Some picnic outings will be colder than others, thanks to trusty British weather. If you want to dress that little bit warmer but still want those summery vibes, Crochet is the answer. It’s still knitwear, so definitely warmer than a summer dress or thin top, but just gives us such gorge beachy vibes! We’re especially loving a Crochet co-ord set, and a cardi is the perfect layer to throw on top of any outfit. Not to mention a classic summer staple: Crochet bags. Stunning!

Flat sandals are the ideal picnic footwear – there are no heels to sink into the grass and you can easily slip your feet out of them to catch the sun. No point wearing trainers and only tanning up to your socks!

Don’t forget about those finishing touches – sunglasses and jewellery to finish off your look, a good-sized bag to fit everything in. Not to mention any storage tubs to bring snacks in and a water bottle - stay hydrated, huns!
